Be Blessed Because You Are Blessed

Isaiah 43:1-3a, 4a, 5a

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior... Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,... Fear not, for I am with you..."

Prayer for this week...

This week I get the chance to share the goals for 2012 and the overall vision with the people of FLOOD. I am so excited about this. I worked through these goals with the FLOOD leadership and came up with our goals, as we believe God has called us to go after. Please be praying as I preach out of Mark 2:1-12. I want the people of FLOOD, who I have grown to love so much, to catch the vision and strive for the goals without apology and with all energy, strength, and passion that the Holy Spirit will give to them.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers.

No More Regrets

I've included this video of a message I gave at PFB Church as an encouragement to those of you who are harassed and haunted by regret. I pray that it's helpful to you and gets you past regret to live in victory.

Prayer for this week...

Hi all,
Here's how you can be praying for me this week:

1). This Wednesday morning I am teaching at Whittier Christian High School on the topic of the Holy Spirit.

2). This Wednesday night I am continuing our series called, "CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE" at FLOOD. If you have time, come out and join us (PFB Church - 601 N. Garey Ave, Pomona, CA. 91767; or live online at www.floodnow.com). It has been a great series. If you want to read the passage before you come, read Philippians 2:9-11.

3). Saturday morning I speaking at a men's breakfast in Pasadena at Pasadena Nazarene Church.

That's what's going on this week. Thank you for praying.

What a ride,

What a Week...

It's been a long week. I spent the whole week over with the high school students at Western Christian for their spiritual emphasis week. With that, I also preached yesterday morning at Crossroads and then Wednesday night at FLOOD (which in all honesty, was one of the most powerful worship services I have ever been a part of). But running on empty can bring about discouragement. I believe that I was faithful in teaching the word this week. I had some students from Western come up and share how God had taught them this week. For that I am so thankful, but of course the mind-games come that make me wonder if I really accomplished anything (and of course that leads to being reminded that it is God who accomplishes, that it is him working in and through me, never leaving me to work for him by myself).

It's during times like this that I trust what God says more than what I think or feel:

"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." — Isaiah 55:10,11 (NIV)

I trust that God accomplishes what he wants to accomplish every time, even when I don't "feel" good about how things went.

Thank you, Jesus, for another opportunity to preach your word this week—to talk about you to so many people. I'm honored and I pray that I brought you glory and made you proud.

Prayer for this week

Hey all,
Here's a quick update from FLOOD last Wednesday night:

  • We saw three people stand to surrender to Jesus.
  • We baptized three people (one of those was one of the ones who stood up to surrender to Jesus).
Here's where we are for this coming week:
  • This week I am speaking at Western Christian High School for their spiritual emphasis week. So I will be speaking there every day at noon. The theme: "rooted in Christ." It started off well today. Looking forward to some great stuff for the rest of the week.
  • This Wednesday night at FLOOD we are continuing through the book of Philippians in our series called, "Check Your Attitude." It was a great start to the series last week. Looking for even better this week.
  • This Thursday morning I am teaching at Crossroads Junior High School in Corona. I always love my time with these students.
  • On Sunday morning, I get the opportunity to teach the Duets class at PFB at 8:30. After that I will be teaching the junior high students of PFB at 9:45. It's a full day but absolutely love it.
Thanks for praying.

Prayer Update...

Hey all,
THANK YOU FOR PRAYING!!! God answered your prayers and showed himself faithful once again. IGNITE was AWESOME!!! Seriously, one of the best we have ever seen. Once I have pictures from the night I will post them here.

Here's how you can be praying for me this week:

1).  Tonight I am sharing with the amazing students who attend New Community, our after-school program for junior high and high school students here at PFB Church.

2). Tomorrow night I am continuing through the book of Philippians at FLOOD. We finished our "PERSPECTIVE" series last Wednesday night. What a powerful series. We saw a lot of people come and visit during this series. We are starting a new series called, "Check Your Attitude."

3).  This Friday I am officiating at the funeral of a man who committed suicide. This is always such a horrible thing for the family to get through, leaving the family with so many questions. Please pray that God would give me the words that bring comfort and closure, sharing God's truth in love while pointing them to him and his grace.

Thank you so much for praying. God is awesome. God is doing awesome things.
