God Is Showing Up & Showing Off

Well this morning was a great event to watch.  I'm still here in Ensenada, Mexico, teaching for Azusa Pacific University to the 400 or so students and youth workers from the states who are down here on a week-long missions trip.

During the worship singing time I was praying and trying to hear what Jesus was wanting me to teach.  Right when they started singing the last song, Matthew 17 came to my mind so I was going to go with that.  After the last song, however, Ryan brought me up (Ryan Hall is down here leading worship) and I began to pray.  As I was praying, I sensed God leading me to preach the cross.  So I did.  I preached about what Jesus went through for us physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually for us so that we might be made right with God.

After the message I called people to surrender to Christ.  As I stood there and waited, an adult from one of the teams stood up, in tears, and surrendered to Christ.  People were clapping and cheering.  Then a student on the other side of the chapel area stood up to surrender to Jesus.  After they stood up, members from each of their teams surrounded them, hugged on them, and prayed over them.  It was beautiful.  And I thought Jesus was done.

After chapel ended, and after all of the teams left for the ministry sites, it was time for staff meeting.  So I walked on over and expected to hear the same old reports.  However, God had something else in mind.

First: as we stood there, the nurse interrupted us and said, "Can I say something? I don't think that I have ever given my life to Christ, and I want to do that now."  We weren't even on the topic of salvation.  She just came out and said it.  She shared how she was listening the message that I had taught and wanted to give her life to Jesus right there in the meeting.  So I asked her if Jesus was her Lord.  She said, "Yes."  I asked her if she believed that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead.  "Yes".  And everyone went nuts.  In fact, we are having a birthday party with cake and ice cream today at 5:00pm here in Ensenada for her.

After a little while, people started to leave after the meeting, except for one woman named Leslie.  She came down from the states to help with the kitchen crew here in Ensenada.  When she got here she sprained her ankle and has been on crutches the whole time (since Sunday - and by this way, Leslie is a prayer warrior who spent a lot of time with the nurse over the past two days.  Jesus is amazing).  So she stopped me and Ryan and Karen Hall and asked us to pray over her.  She believed that God was wanting to heal her.  So, she took the Ace bandage off of her ankle and put her foot up on the bench.  Ryan, Karen, and I stood over her and laid hands on her ankle.  We prayed for healing and for Satan to have no place in her life.  We finished praying.  And SHE STOOD UP!!!! That's right.  When she stood up I asked her how her ankle felt, and she said, "It's all better," and she walked away without Ace bandage or crutch.  It was awesome!!!

God is at work friends.  Keep praying.  Be encouraged.  He still does miracles.
