Challenge for 2011

Hey Flood,
I know what you're thinking. Well actually, I have no clue what you're thinking, but here's my challenge for you.

Let's read through the Bible this year. Let's make a commitment to spend time in God's word every day. It is absolutely vital for us to hear God speak into our lives as much as possible.

This is a spiritual discipline that is brought up around this time ever year. Well, I'm joining the bandwagon on this one.

So you know that I'm not asking you to do anything that I'm not willing to do, I have signed up for two reading plans for 2011 on youversion.com.

1). Life Journal Reading Plan. This plan will take me through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice in 2011.

2). Morning and Evening. This is a daily devotional from the thoughts and writings of Charles Spurgeon that I will read, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Again, I do not tell you what I will be doing to brag. In fact, this will be a struggle for me. I have never done well with a "reading plan" in the past but I feel the need to do this and to remain committed to it (and please check in with me to keep me accountable to this commitment). I share this with you to show that I am committing to do exactly what I am challenging you to do.

Will you do it? If so, go to youversion.com, set up an account and pick a reading plan (or use whatever you want to that keeps you committed to tis challenge). Then tell me in the space for comments below what plan you are committing to so that I can be praying for you as you start this life-changing experience.

I love you guys and am so thankful tht Jesus has called me to be your pastor.

What a ride,
BigBHolla

  5. I've done the PFB pamphlet for reading through the Bible in a year about four or five years in a row now. As much as I've enjoyed them I'm thinking I'll look for a new plan just to I can try and get a different perspective. I'm grateful that I've had different translations to read and different study notes with them to add background and commentary to it all too. Currently a day away from finishing reading through ESV study bible which had some cool context to read before starting each book.

  8. Brian, I have decided to commit to the Blended reading plan, so I can get through the entire Bible, and have the variety each day. I'm also going to read the Morning and Evening devotionals too. Please pray that I stay focused and committed to these for 2011 :)
